MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL
Katie Patterson teaches middle school ELA and Grammar. Her sons Jack, Seth, and Ben are
students here, as well. Katie is married to Pastor Jay Patterson, senior pastor of Our Father’s
House Assembly of God in California, MD. During her free time, Katie enjoys running, hiking,
exploring, and spending time outdoors with her family.
Crystal Schlueter is a graduate of The King's College, NY (B.A.) and Regent University, VA (M.A.) and is currently in doctoral courses for Curriculum Development and Technology. She teaches the British Literature and American Literature Dual Enrollment courses at KCA for Cairn University and is adviser for the yearbook. She is a member of SAYSF Church and has been married for 37 years to Daniel, who is a history teacher. Her daughter, Anna, and son-in-law, Grant, live and work in Southern Maryland. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, reading, and singing with the praise & worship team.
Mrs. Pickeral teaches 6th grade at KCA. She graduated from UMGC and is married to her
husband, Marcus. Mrs. Pickeral’s favorite thing about teaching is seeing a student’s face light
up when he or she finally understands something they didn’t before. In her free time, she loves
off-roading, exercising, and reading.
Denise Pentermann holds a B.S. in Mathematics with teacher certifications and a minor in Computer Science, as well as a M.S. in Mathematics with a concentration in Statistics. She is currently in her 17th year at KCA, having previously taught College Algebra at CSM, served as adjunct faculty for Calculus and Statistics at Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA), and taught Math at High Point Baptist Academy near Reading, PA. Denise is a member of SAYSF Bible Church and enjoys Church/Bible Study, reading Christian Fiction, and playing English handbells. She is married to Arthur who works as a DoD engineer at Pax River. They have two children: Christopher and Aimee, both of whom are KCA alumni. She loves serving God as a math teacher and considers her position at KCA a ministry as well as a career.
Dan Schlueter was raised in the Mohawk Valley of NY and completed four years at The King’s College for a Bachelor’s degree in History in 1985. That same year Dan married Crystal Verrill of Maine and moved with their doberman to So Md to teach and coach at Calvert Christian School. When the school folded in 1987, Dan taught a year at Calvert High School. He furthered his education with the UMD Archaeological field school and numerous courses from Immaculata Univ. of PA through the efforts of the Freedoms Foundation. While teaching and coaching at Grace Brethren (Clinton), he became History department chairperson.
He spent 33 years there before he applied to The KCA in Summer 2021 where he moved into the Middle School Social Studies courses. For the 2022-23 school year he has moved up into the HS History/Bible position. He continues to enjoy reenacting, volleyball, archaeology, and nonfiction reading.
Matthew Comprix holds a Bachelor's of Science in Biblical Studies and Master of Arts in Christian Leadership from Multnomah University in Portland, Oregon. He served 23 years in the United States Air Force as an Imagery Analyst, mostly in Reno, Nevada. Mr. Comprix eventually moved to Lusby, MD, and joined the faculty at KCA. Here he teaches STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), Algebra, Geometry and Physical Science. He, his wife and three daughters attend Our Father's House in California, MD. In his free time he enjoys watching football and hockey and spending time with family.
Mr. Lindgren is a graduate of Cedarville University and received his Master's of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. A former student at KCA, Mr. Lindgren returned to serve as the Staff Chaplain five years ago. In his free time, Mr. Lindgren is avid podcast listener, a devoted fan of Liverpool Football Club, and is a supporter of the LA Chargers.
Mrs. Prosser has a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Bioscience and Biotechnology from the Rochester Institute of Technology, having published two peer reviewed papers in scientific journals. She also has a Masters of Science in Secondary Biological Education. Mrs. Prosser has over ten years experience in various classroom settings with her own tutoring business. She is fluent in Spanish and considers herself a Jane of all trades. She enjoys being a member of her church, Libertad Baptist Church. In her free time, she is playing the banjo, singing loudly in traffic, and homeschooling her two young children.
Math & Science
Dan Thompson is a graduate of Baptist Bible College and George Washington University. He comes to us with 19 years of teaching experience, having taught at several Christian Schools in Maryland. He has also served 23 years as an administrator at schools in Maryland, North and South Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Most recently, he was the Head of School at Columbia County Christian School in PA. He has been married to Staci for 39 years. Their children, Andrew and Alyson, are both teachers as well. He attends Emmanuel Church in Huntingtown, and enjoys spending time with his 4 grandchildren and watching college football.
Mr. Mehaffey teaches Bible and History. He graduated from St. Mary’s College and is married to
his wife, Catherine. Mr. Mehaffey joined the staff of KCA in early 2022.
7 & 8th Gr./St. Services
Cheryl Ralon is a graduate of Washington Bible College with Sacred Music and Christian Education emphasis. In addition to her B.S., she has a M.S. from Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn). Mrs. Ralon is currently working with the middle school in Math and Language Arts and is our Student Advocate (working with students with special needs) for middle and high school. She has taught 5th grade, middle school P.E., Science, History, and Elementary Music. Additionally, she is a trained NILD educational therapist (National Institute of Learning Development) focusing on brain-based education. She is the mother of 4 KCA ‘lifers,” now all college graduates, and grandmother of six KCA students."
