With a successful ten-year career as a professional basketball player, Coach Shamon successfully fulfilled his dreams. He now seeks to give opportunities and create the foundation for the students of KCA to fulfill their dreams through basketball. Coach Shamon has a heart for teaching students how to play in a way that taps into their potential, refines their skill and enables them to grow while bringing honor to God.
HS Academic Advisor
Rachael Jarboe is a graduate of Nyack College, Alliance Theological Seminary, and the American College of Education. Ms. Jarboe holds degrees in BA in Interdisciplinary Studies of Missiology and Music, an MA in Intercultural Studies for Urban Missions, and a Master's of Education in Instructional Design and Technology. Ms. Jarboe has experience from being an assistant dormitory director to student support, administration in student systems (SIS), learning management (LMS), and preschool. She is certified through ASCI for teaching Pre-K to high school. She volunteers as a mission and outreach coordinator at her church, Our Father's House AG. She oversees the visual and sound recordings engineering for church services.
Barbara is a graduate of Tennessee Temple University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, as well as a Master of Reading Education from Towson State University. She has taught at KCA for 20+ years and currently serves as the lower school resource teacher as well as the 5th grade teacher. She is trained in Lindamood Bell and Barton Reading and has tutored students from Pre-K to high school in reading, math, writing and other subjects. She is certified through ACSI and is working for her dyslexia screening certification. Prior to KCA she taught at Carroll Christian Academy. She attends Grace Chapel and enjoys reading, writing, crafts, and going to auctions and farmer's/flea markets. She is married to Joe, a master craftsman woodworker and has one daughter, Hannah, a recent graduate of KCA.
Dan Thompson is a graduate of Baptist Bible College and George Washington University. He comes to us with 19 years of teaching experience, having taught at several Christian Schools in Maryland. He has also served 23 years as an administrator at schools in Maryland, North and South Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Most recently, he was the Head of School at Columbia County Christian School in PA. He has been married to Staci for 37 years. Their children, Andrew and Alyson, are both teachers as well. He attends Emmanuel Church in Huntingtown, MD and enjoys spending time with his 4 grandchildren and watching college football.
Monique Jones has been an artist for many years, a passion that started in her childhood. Through many experiences in school and with her family she was encouraged and pursued many different mediums, such as photography and painting, and later attended a magnet school for piano and art. She loves seeing kids at KCA reach their fullest potential and skill in art. She is married to Chris and has three children who attend KCA.
Kelsey Reichard is a graduate of Liberty University with a Kinesiology Health & Physical Education degree. She started working for KCA in 2011 during the first year of summer camp. She has been working at KCA’s summer camp ever since, in charge of the Counselor staff. This will be her sixth year teaching Physical Education and coaching soccer and basketball at KCA.
Kevin Gardiner is a graduate of Elizabethtown College and the University of Phoenix, from which he holds degrees in Music Education and Education (Curriculum and Technology). He has taught high school band and orchestra, as well as elementary band and general music in Harford, Charles, and St. Mary's Counties. In his free time he enjoys writing music and fiction.
