Testing Fee – A fee of one hundred dollars ($100) is due for each student tested by KCA personnel.  This fee includes the testing materials and a conference with one of the school’s professional personnel, and is due at testing time.  This fee is not refundable.

Registration Fee – This fee helps to defray the costs associated with beginning a new school year, such as gathering and entering data, creating class/student schedules, ordering and receiving books and teaching materials, and other activities required to prepare for the new school year.  This fee is not refundable. The enrollment process is complete when the student’s name is listed on the appropriate class roster and all preparations for his/her enrollment are completed.

Returning Student – A fee of one hundred and forty five dollars ($145) is due for each returning student registering for enrollment in KCA prior to May 1st. The maximum registration fee a family registering multiple students may pay is four hundred and thirty five ($435).  On or after May 1st, the registration fee for returning students is two hundred and ninety dollars ($290). The maximum family registration fee after May 1 is eight hundred and seventy dollars ($870).

New Student - A new student registering for enrollment in KCA pays a registration fee of one hundred and forty five dollars ($145). The maximum registration fee a new family may pay is four hundred and thirty five ($435).

New Family Matriculation Fee - A fee of three hundred and fifty dollars ($350) is due at registration for the first year a family enrolls at KCA.  This is a one-time initial fee and is non-refundable.  This fee is applicable for new families enrolling students in grades Pre-Kindergarten to 12th.

Calvert County Bus Fee – We encourage families that live in Calvert County to use the KCA Calvert bus.  The cost for this service is a yearly fee of one thousand and twenty five dollars ($1,025) per family.  There is no charge for bus service in St. Mary’s County.

Senior Graduation Fee – A fee of seventy five dollars ($75) is due for graduating seniors.  This fee helps defray the costs of the graduation ceremony.  This fee does not include graduation announcements.

Withdrawal Fee - Registering your student(s) at KCA enrolls him/her for the whole school year.  When you register your student(s), KCA agrees to educate your student(s) for the whole year and must procure personnel, materials, and facilities for the whole year.  If you decide to withdraw your student(s) at any time during the 2014-2015 school year, you must pay a withdrawal fee of five hundred dollars ($500) per student withdrawn.

Full Payment Credit Families electing the full payment plan, i.e. contracting at the time of registration to pay their year’s tuition in full before July 1, receive a credit of one and one-half percent (1.5%).

Recommitment Day Credit - Recommitment ‘14 is a KCA event providing a financial incentive, and a streamlined re-enrollment process for current KCA families who re-enroll online for the 2014-2015 school year by February 20, 2014 (Parent Teacher Conference day).  When submitted during this event, your recommitment payment of $357 per student ($1,071 max for families with 3+ students) will hold your child’s seat until August 2014, qualify for a tuition credit of $285, and eliminate $73 of your registration fee (50% reduction).

Ambassador Credit – KCA Ambassadors earn tuition credit when they encourage/invite a new family to enroll a student at KCA. For this to happen, the new family must list their KCA Ambassador on the Tuition Credit Request Form and return it to the Admissions office attached to their enrollment forms. Once the new family is accepted and enrolls, both the ambassador and the new family receive a tuition credit of $250 per new student. (Two new students earn tuition credit of $500 for each family.)

Volunteer Credit KCA keeps educational costs in check by employing volunteers in many support roles.  Families that volunteer more than 30 hours in the previous school year are eligible for a one hundred and twenty five dollars ($125) volunteer tuition credit.

SCHOLARSHIPS – KCA offers tuition assistance to families with unusual financial needs.  Families are encouraged to apply online at which is the fastest and most direct method of submitting applications.  Hardcopy applications are also available if needed in the admissions office.  A $25 fee is due with the application.  Applications for tuition assistance should be submitted on or before April 15, 2014.  Tuition assistance is limited and is distributed by June 1.  If any tuition assistance funds remain after June 1, they will be distributed on a first-come first-serve basis.

PAYMENT PLANS – Tuition and fees for the 2014-2015 school year are due July 1, 2014.

Full Payment Plan Family’s tuition and fees are paid on or before July 1, 2014.  Families electing this plan receive a one and one-half percent (1.5%) tuition credit. (See Tuition Credits)

Semi-annual Payment Plan Family’s tuition and fees are paid in two equal payments.  The first payment is paid on or before July 1, 2014, and the second payment is paid on or before January 1, 2015.

Monthly Payment PlanTuition and fees are paid in equal monthly payments of either 10 or 11 months by Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) only.  This is a new policy this year. FACTS administers KCA’s monthly tuition and fee collection.  FACTS permits each family to select due dates of either the 1st or the 15th of the month.  The first payment of the school year is due to FACTS on either July 1 or July 15, 2014.  The remaining payments are due on the same day of the month for the next succeeding 9 or 10 months.  FACTS will assess a $30 late fee if they do not receive a payment by the due date.

DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS – In order to pay our teachers their salaries on a regular, routine basis, we encourage our families not to allow their tuition account to become delinquent. We request our families to place their tuition payment on the top of their monthly payment list.  Unfortunately, we must treat those families who do not comply with this request in a fair but firm manner.  Specifically,

  • Returning families may register their students for the next school year when their tuition and fees account is current.
  • Registered students, whose first month’s tuition is not paid by July 15, will be moved from the enrolled students list to the waiting list. His/Her place on the enrolled students list will be given to a student on the waiting list who has paid their first’s month’s tuition.
  • A student may start attending school when his or her first month’s tuition is paid.
  • A family, whose tuition and fees account is 60 days delinquent, must make special arrangements with the KCA School Board Treasurer to enable their student(s) to continue attending school.
  • A family will receive their report cards and/or records and transcripts after the school year is completed when their tuition account is paid in full.
  • A senior will be permitted to attend graduation ceremonies when his or her family’s account is paid in full.
  • Tuition accounts, more than 60 days delinquent, are subject to referral to a collection agency. A thirty-five percent collection agency fee will be added to these accounts.

LATE ENROLLMENT – Families, who enroll their student(s) after the school year begins, will pay tuition based on the number of months remaining in the school year, regardless of the number of days in attendance in the first month. Tuition is computed based on a ten-month school year; e.g. tuition due for a student enrolled in September is nine-tenths of the full year tuition.
