The girls’ soccer team had a solid 2016 season! Despite a variety of injuries, each of the girls on the team played hard throughout the fall. What sets our soccer program apart is the fact that both middle and high school girls play on one team. Our middle schoolers worked very hard to practice at the same level as their upper school teammates. Though there were occasional setbacks, each of the younger players were driven to improve their game.
Though the season has just ended, we are already gearing up for next year! We foresee that our current juniors Joanna Choporis and Rachel Nevala will be great leaders for the team. It will be sad to see our seniors from this year - Ally Puckett, Katerina Stedman, Kathryn Funk, and Kailynn Perkins - leave us at the end of the year. Ally Puckett, in particular, has been a wonderful mentor for a lot of the girls on the team. Her kindness, knowledge of the game, and hard work will be missed! Coach Kelsey Reichard summed up the season by saying, “God has blessed me with the opportunity to coach such hard working, Godly, and wonderful girls. I cannot wait to see what he has planned for the team next year!”
The boys had a successful season that concluded with a trip to the state playoffs. Several of our top players were recognized at the All Conference level. Our All Conference players are nominated by coaches from each of the schools KCA competes against. It is a real honor to be selected, as it means that coaches from other teams recognize not only a student’s athletic ability, but their good sportsmanship on the field.
