Barbara is a graduate of Tennessee Temple University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, as well as a Master of Reading Education from Towson State University. She has taught at KCA for 20+ years and currently serves as the lower school resource teacher as well as the 5th grade teacher. She is trained in Lindamood Bell and Barton Reading and has tutored students from Pre-K to high school in reading, math, writing and other subjects. She is certified through ACSI and is working for her dyslexia screening certification. Prior to KCA she taught at Carroll Christian Academy. She attends Grace Chapel and enjoys reading, writing, crafts, and going to auctions and farmer's/flea markets. She is married to Joe, a master craftsman woodworker and has one daughter, Hannah, a recent graduate of KCA.
Caitlin Lawrence earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Towson University. This is her second year teaching at KCA and she is grateful to be able to help students build a strong spiritual and academic foundation.
Kelsey Duke holds a degree in Elementary Education from Salisbury University. She is in her third year teaching First Grade at KCA. Previously she taught in Wicomico County for her undergraduate internship. Born and raised in St. Mary’s County, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, participating in bible studies, and attending concerts. She is a member at Redeeming Grace Baptist Church, where she teaches in Children's Ministry for grade levels K-1. She is the daughter of Holly Snyder, sister to two brothers; one of whom currently attends KCA.
Kanawha Mack earned her BS ED Elementary Education degree from The University of Phoenix Overseas Campus and completed her student teaching at Dahlgren School in Dahlgren, VA. In 2005 her family transferred from Pax River NAS to MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina where she worked as a medical receptionist at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. She then transferred to Yokosuka, Japan, where she was self-employed as a Home Child Care Provider. Most recently she taught 5th grade at Our Lady Star of the Sea School. She is a member of Good Samaritan Lutheran Church. She enjoys reading, cooking/baking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She is married to Robert, and the mother of 4 children (3 of which currently attend KCA) and has 3 adult stepchildren.
Leslie is a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County. She began substitute teaching at KCA in 2004 and became a full time staff member in 2005. Leslie works as a lower school aide, office helper, and lunchroom/recess monitor. Leslie attends Faith Bible Church. She and her husband, Brian, have one daughter, Emily, who is currently attending KCA.
Carol Nevala holds a Bachelors in Human Development from Saint Mary's College. A life-long resident of St. Mary’s County, she has taught at KCA for 16 years. (1993-1996) (2004-present). She is married to Troy and has two daughters, Rebekah and Rachel. She enjoys reading, swimming and cooking, and is a member of Leonardtown Baptist Church.
Mariah Riedell graduated from Patuxent High School in 2005 and then went on to Liberty University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education (minor in History and English). After graduation she served as a student teacher and substitute at KCA. After a year off, to stay home with her children, Rylee and Chase, she returned to KCA in 2012 as the 6th Grade teacher and has loved it ever since!
Carole Ann Spade
Carole Ann Spade Is a graduate of Shepherd College with a B.A. in Elementary Education. During her career she has served as a missionary in Irian Jaya, Indonesia (now Papua), taught in Western MD at Hancock Middle School, then later at KCA for 20+ years. She and her husband are members of Faith Bible Church in Mechanicsville, MD. In her free time she enjoys reading and spending time with her grandkids. She is married to Rod and has two children, Danny and Christy, who both attended Lexington Park Christian School (now KCA).
Joanne Sobola is a graduate of College of Notre Dame of Maryland with a Bachelor's Degree in General Education and Special Education. She also holds a degree in Transitional Services from George Washington University, and completed post graduate coursework from John's Hopkins University in the area of Autism. Before coming to KCA in 2014 as a first grade teacher, she taught with the St. Mary's Co. Schools for 30+ years at Green Holly Elementary, Great Mills HS, Esperanza Middle School and Banneker Elementary. She is a member of SAYSF Bible Church and enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends. She is married to John for 17 years and has 5 adopted children who range in age from eight to seventeen. Four of her children currently attend KCA.
Leah Tobler is a graduate of St. Mary's College of Maryland where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Human Studies. She has taught 1st grade at Lexington Park Christian School (now KCA) and the Texas Christian Academy. She has also been a homeschooler, a preschool aide, and a home/hospital teacher for the St. Mary's Co. Public Schools. In her free time she enjoys going for walks, boating, and paddle boarding. She is married and has two children who both attend KCA.
Mrs. Wagner received her B.S. in Speech Pathology & Audiology from SUNY Geneseo, and her MA in Special Education from George Washington University. She received her Maryland Child Care credentials, and has worked in St. Mary’s and Calvert County Schools for 12 years, as well as teaching Preschool at Our Lady of the Sea and other schools.
