Barbara is a graduate of Tennessee Temple University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, as well as a Master of Reading Education from Towson State University. She has taught at KCA for 20+ years and currently serves as the lower school resource teacher as well as the 5th grade teacher. She is trained in Lindamood Bell and Barton Reading and has tutored students from Pre-K to high school in reading, math, writing and other subjects. She is certified through ACSI and is working for her dyslexia screening certification. Prior to KCA she taught at Carroll Christian Academy. She attends Grace Chapel and enjoys reading, writing, crafts, and going to auctions and farmer's/flea markets. She is married to Joe, a master craftsman woodworker and has one daughter, Hannah, a recent graduate of KCA.
Cherise moved to Maryland from New Mexico in 2012. She graduated in 1997 from a private Christian high school in Alamogordo, NM. She is married and has two sons. She is a Certified Medical Assistant. Cherise began volunteering at KCA when her older son, Thomas, started 6th grade. He is now starting 11th grade at KCA this year. Currently, Cherise is the lower school computer teacher for grades kindergarten through 3rd grade, as well as being the aide for the two 6th grade classes. She also has a younger son, Trevin, who attends Green Holly Elementary School in the SAIL (Supporting Academics and Independent Living) program where he gets support for his autism. Mrs. Franklin enjoys being a part of several ministries at her church, Lexington Park Baptist Church. She helps with AWANA, cooks meals for members in need, and loves to sing in the choir when she can and as part of the praise team.
Kelsey Payne holds a degree in Elementary Education from Salisbury University. She is in her third year teaching First Grade at KCA. Previously she taught in Wicomico County for her undergraduate internship. Born and raised in St. Mary’s County, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, participating in bible studies, and attending concerts. She is a member at Redeeming Grace Baptist Church, where she teaches in Children's Ministry for grade levels K-1. She is the daughter of Holly Snyder, sister to two brothers; one of whom currently attends KCA.
Kanawha Mack earned her BS ED Elementary Education degree from The University of Phoenix Overseas Campus and completed her student teaching at Dahlgren School in Dahlgren, VA. In 2005 her family transferred from Pax River NAS to MCAS Beaufort, South Carolina where she worked as a medical receptionist at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. She then transferred to Yokosuka, Japan, where she was self-employed as a Home Child Care Provider. Most recently she taught 5th grade at Our Lady Star of the Sea School. She is a member of Good Samaritan Lutheran Church. She enjoys reading, cooking/baking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She is married to Robert, and the mother of 4 children (3 of which currently attend KCA) and has 3 adult stepchildren.
Leslie is a lifelong resident of St. Mary’s County. She attended Salisbury University and received her BA degree in liberal studies and psychology. In 2005, she began working at KCA as a lower school aide and lunchroom/recess monitor. Over the years she has added to her duties and now serves as aide coordinator and test coordinator. Leslie enjoys reading, organizing (everything and anything!), and going to Disney with her family. Leslie attends Faith Bible Church. She and her husband Brian have one daughter, Emily, who is a KCA “lifer” graduate and a current senior at Regent University.
Mariah Riedell graduated from Patuxent High School in 2005 and then went on to Liberty University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education (minor in History and English). After graduation she served as a student teacher and substitute at KCA. After a year off, to stay home with her children, Rylee and Chase, she returned to KCA in 2012 as the 6th Grade teacher and has loved it ever since! In her free time she helps buyers and sellers with their local real-estate needs.
Leah Tobler is a graduate of St. Mary's College of Maryland where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Human Studies. She has taught 1st grade at Lexington Park Christian School (now KCA) and the Texas Christian Academy. She has also been a homeschooler, a preschool aide, and a home/hospital teacher for the St. Mary's Co. Public Schools. In her free time she enjoys going for walks, boating, and paddle boarding. She is married and has two children who both attend KCA.
Lisa Everly is a graduate of Fairmont College in WV with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. She brings to KCA 19 years experience, both 1st grade with Calvert County Schools, and with the Homeschool Christian Academy. She also homeschooled her 3 kids through high school. In her free time she likes to bike, swim, take walks & kayak with her family. She attends Calvert Life Church.
Crystal Schlueter is a graduate of The King's College, NY and Regent University. She has taught for Cairn University, College of Southern Maryland, Grace Brethren Christian School (Clinton) and Calvert Christian School. She is a member of SAYSF Church and has been married for 34 years to Daniel, who is also a teacher. Her daughter, Anna, and son-in-law, Grant, live and work in Southern Maryland. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, reading, singing with the praise & worship team and the church choir.
Windy Prasada-Rao is a graduate of the University of Richmond with a degree in Business Administration. She lived in Richmond, Virginia for most of her life where she worked in the non-profit field, specializing in Public and Government Communications. In 2013 she moved to St. Mary’s County with her husband Dan,and daughter Maddy who is in the sixth grade at KCA. Although a majority of her free time is spent supporting her daughter with her competitive cheer team, Windy also enjoys quality time with her family and relaxing at the beach.
Suzanne Rog is a Certified Director/Teacher for Preschool who has lived in Southern Maryland her whole life. Most recently she worked at Margaret Brent Middle School. A member of Faith Bible Church she is married to Matthew and has 4 wonderful children, the youngest of which, attends KCA. In her free time she loves to camp, sing, and spend time with her grandson.
