We are full of excitement with our Color Fun Run! We have a heated competition going on between grades to win those class movie prizes and individual prizes as well. And remember that our grand prize this year is a Fire 7' Tablet with Wi-Fi and 8 GB!!
Here are today's updates:
5th GRADE IS STILL ON THE LEAD!
The competition continues and 5th grade is still on the lead with $3,098! Third grade is second with $1,613, and 2nd grade is hot on their heels to take second place with $1,524.50.
In the high school, the tenth grade class total is $970, and eleventh grade is following close behind at $225.
Keep the competition going! Thank you to all for participating and supporting our school.
Our Color Fun Run goal is to reach $24,000. Keep getting those pledges in to help finish our high school construction!
Thank you to everyone who has already signed up to volunteer at the Carnival this Saturday! If you’re volunteering, the time you signed up for has been assigned to you. If you are unsure of your time, please contact Heather Waller. Please arrive promptly and check in at the blue volunteer tent. If you signed up to begin at 12:00 noon, please arrive at 11:30 a.m. to receive directions and instructions for games.
We still need volunteers to help with attended parking between 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. We also need high school students to help with games. We are offering double service hours to high school students who volunteer 2 hours or more. If you can help, please contact Heather Waller at 301-275-4614 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
CORRECTION – SPORTS TEAMS RECOGNITION
In today’s issue of the Eagle News we published information about our latest sports accomplishments and athletes’ recognition. We inadvertently omitted one student on the Girls Soccer team that received an Honorable Mention: Shamaia Sobola. There’s also a name misspell on the Girls Soccer Honorable Mention: Nikkie Vincent. Congratulations, Shamaia and Nikkie!
Have a blessed evening!
Good morning KCA faculty and staff!
I want to take a moment to talk about Grandparents' Day with you. This year, the event will be held on Friday, October 9, which means we have just over a month to prepare.
After brainstorming with several members of the admin team, we've decided to move forward with an adventure theme. This gives us quite a bit of freedom to choose from a variety of crafts (animal, mountain climbing, airplanes, etc.) I'm hoping it also inspires you, as teachers, to add something unique to your class performance on the 9th.
During our winter Parents' Day event, several of you came up with clever ways to "go tropical." From unique music to the use of posters and more dramatic readings, our students really gave the audience a great show. I heard from countless audience members who appreciated the extra work that went into the assembly! Many of these families attend both grandparents' day and parents' day each year, and this is a great way for us to showcase our talented students and creative teachers!
In the near future, I'll be ordering crafts for the Pre-K through 5th grade students to complete. As always, I'll keep ease and ability in mind. They will be delivered to the school within the next week or two, and we'll do our best to get them out to you quickly! Please return the completed crafts back to my office by Wednesday, October 7. That gives our volunteers time to organize the decor and prepare it for hanging.
This year, I won't be there to help with the details, but I know that Kevin, Heather, and the others who have stepped up in the past, will be doing their best to ensure we run smoothly!
Due to the upcoming holiday weekend and multiple away games, we have decided to move our PTF event to next week -- September 10. We hope that this will allow more of our KCA family members to attend. The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. and childcare will be available for kids in the Pre-K through 3rd grade. Students will enjoy popcorn and movies during the event. If you'd like to reserve a spot for your child, please contact our office manager, Julie Dean, at 301-994-3080 or via email: email@example.com.
Our PTF event is a wonderful way for you to learn about what's happening at KCA this year -- as well as sign up for volunteer opportunities! Additionally, it's your chance to reserve a time slot for lower school parent-teacher conferences on September 22.
We look forward to seeing you next week!
Good morning KCA families,
I hope you're having a good week! As always, there's a lot going on right now -- especially as this is our first full week of school. Here are some important items to keep on your calendar:
If you have time to volunteer with us, please contact Jane Madjeski via phone (301-994-3080) or email: firstname.lastname@example.org. A form went home in Golden Envelopes last week calling for volunteers, and we need those back as soon as possible.
BLACK ROCK SCIENCE CAMP
Our campers are having a GREAT time! This middle school trip is a special way for 6th, 7th and 8th grade classmates to get to know one another in an off-campus setting. I've posted several images on our KCA Facebook page -- and will continue to do so throughout the trip. Please take a moment to follow us online!
HIGH SCHOOL RETREAT
High school students are enjoying a retreat today on campus! Pizza and sodas are being provided by KCA.
KCA PHONE NUMBER
If you receive a call from KCA, it most likely shows up as 301-994-3083 on your phone. However, that's not a good number to reach us at -- I believe it rolls straight to voice mail. Please call 301-994-3080 to reach a member of our staff at the front desk.
PTF MEETING - SEPTEMBER 3 - 6:30 p.m.
Welcome to the first PTF meeting of the year! PTF stands for parent/teacher fellowship. This is an opportunity for parents to hear first hand from administrators and staff members. Learn what's planned for the school year and find out how you can get involved. Childcare is provided!
School picture day is planned for September 11. All students need their picture taken for the yearbook and their student ID's, but families are not obligated to buy photos. Information went home in yesterday's Golden Envelope.
CHANGE OF TRANSPORTATION PLANS?
Occasionally, your student may need to change the way in which they get home on a particular day. Please remember to call before 3 p.m. as that will help ensure the information gets to both our bus coordinator and your child's teacher in time. We prefer it in writing or email, but if it's a last minute change, a phone call is fine.
CARNIVAL & CRAFT FAIR - OCTOBER 24
This year, we're combining our Carnival and Craft Fair to make it one GIANT event! In the near future, we'll be distributing information about how to get involved with either. I know we have some very talented crafters who were part of our event last year. We hope to see you again this year!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call 301-994-3080.
Have a wonderful day!
