Mr. Harris is a 1989 graduate of Eastern University with a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education (Math, History). In his career he has taught in South Philadelphia, served as a youth pastor for five years at Quakertown Bible Fellowship in Pennsylvania, as well as worked and lived in Sweden (Gävle and Falun) for eight years at the Internationella Engelska Skolan, a Swedish school with an English profile. He has two children at KCA, Emma, and Grace, and one graduate, Isaiah.
Lisa received her BS from Virginia Tech in Family and Child Development with a Math and History concentration. She received her masters from Western Maryland College (McDaniel) in Curriculum Development and Assessment. Lisa started volunteering at KCA teaching art when her oldest began first grade. This passion for art turned into a part time position a couple years later. Mrs. B., as she is affectionately known, returned to full time teaching in 2012. She now wears many hats teaching K-6 Art, HS Art History, Math 5, Bible 7 "Proverbs," and Bible 8 “God’s Girls” Life of Christ. Teaching in a Christian environment and striving to apply God’s word daily has been a great blessing for her. Mrs. B. is happily married to Tom, and they have three wonderful children, Breana, Seth, and Torie, who are “lifers” from KCA.
Born and raised in St. Mary's Co., Blaine Somerville earned his Bachelors and Masters in Business at Morgan State University in Baltimore where he lived and worked for 9 years. He was previously the Asst. Director of the Honors Program at Morgan State University before returning home to Southern Maryland to teach at Great Mills High School. In addition to KCA, he teaches GED classes at the Detention Center and considers that a ministry. He enjoys coaching basketball and is married to Toyja Somerville since 1993 and has hosted many students in their home over the years.
Barbara Mashtare is the Director of Admissions for KCA. She has lived in St. Mary's County since February 2010 when her family moved to Maryland from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Barbara has one KCA graduate and three current students. Most recently, she worked as the Assistant Director at Riversong Christian Learning Center for six years. When Barbara is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, going to the beach, and serving in ministry with her husband. Barbara is honored and blessed to be a part of the school where she truly enjoys helping other families learn more about KCA.
Celeste began substitute teaching in 2009 and came on full-time as the school's Development Secretary in October 2011. She also serves as the school's Summer Camp Secretary and teaches a Spanish club for 4th Grade, as well as a devotional class for 6th grade girls. She came to KCA with a background in marketing and sales and has a B.A. in linguistics from UMBC. In her spare time, Celeste enjoys being an AWANA leader at Faith Bible Church in Mechanicsvsville. She has been a St. Mary's County resident for the past four years and is a devoted mom to Brandon Pullias.
Omar De la Torre is a graduate of the Univesidad de Guadalajara in Mexico, holding a degree in Information Systems. Before coming to KCA, he served as a Support Technician, Computer Teacher and IT Help Desk coordinator; most recently at the Lincoln School, a Christian school with English and Spanish program. He is married to Sarah and has three children. They attend Ministerio de Amor en Cristo, where he serves as part of the worship team. He greatly enjoys his family and helping and serve the people around him.
Born in Fairmont, WV, Jane Madjeski attended Fairmont State University and earned an AB in Education. After college she moved to St. Mary's County where she taught at Esperanza Middle, Leonardtown High & Home Bound Teaching and KCA. As of 2013 she had completed 50 years of teaching and now works as the Laison to New Families and in Public Relations at KCA, where her daughter Sarah graduated. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her grandkids & completing puzzles. Her granddaughters, Lexi and Aubrey, also attend KCA.
